The “Design Ah” Record I Found in Japan

Saw the “Design Ah” exhibit in Japan—saving that story for later. But first: the dreamy record I grabbed at the gift shop!

The “Design Ah” Record I Found in Japan
The exhibit was filled with the show’s background music, and I kept thinking, ‘Wow, this music is so good.’ So when I spotted this record at the very end… I was so happy I literally screamed!!

During my stay in Japan, I visited a couple of art exhibitions. One of them was for “Design Ah,” an educational TV program from NHK. I’ll talk about the actual exhibit another time, but today I want to show you the record I found at the gift shop!

It’s filled with the music used in the show. Since the program explains design concepts in a really intuitive and easy-to-understand way, the background music doesn’t try to stand out too much—but it feels stylish, comfortable, and somehow sparks your curiosity at the same time. Just listening to it makes me feel refreshed, like it blows away the summer heat. Some tracks are ambient, some have meaningless lyrics that repeat over and over… and it’s all super soothing.

If you don’t have a record player, you can listen digitally here too!
