Final Test Print for Fire Horse!

I did a test print of my Fire Horse illustration before sending it off to Riso Pop. Despite some ink issues, I think the horse's charm still shines through!

Final Test Print for Fire Horse!
The black background adds a mysterious vibe and makes the central fire stand out even more!

Today, I did a final test print of my Fire Horse illustration before sending it off to Riso Pop.

Luckily, I have yellow, fluorescent pink, burgundy, and blue ink at home—so I thought I could do a close-to-final version with those colors. But! Chicago’s freezing temperatures seem to have affected the risograph ink badly. While yellow printed fine, the fluorescent pink wouldn’t stick at all, so I ended up using bubble gum pink instead. Burgundy has already been acting up for a while, so I substituted it with purple—but that ink also started fading partway through the print. And the final layer, blue, just didn’t go on well either! Even when I tried switching to teal, the lighter areas didn’t print at all.

Out of curiosity, I printed it using our other risograph machine that only prints in black—and the results were just right! The overall print might not be perfect, but the horse’s cuteness totally comes through. I’m going to call that a win!
