Finding The Snowman Again
I stumbled across The Snowman animation on YouTube—and just like that, I was transported back to my childhood. Soft, quiet, and full of magic.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day have come and gone! My husband and I spent both days cozied up at home—watching holiday movies, cooking, and building LEGO sets. It was super chill and really lovely.
While watching some holiday stuff on YouTube, I got recommended an animation of The Snowman! I immediately recognized that round, squishy face and body from the picture book my mom used to read to me when I was a kid. Just seeing that character again made my heart do a little happy jump—so I watched the animation.
And wow… what a beautiful film! These days I usually watch 3D digital animation or hand-drawn anime, but seeing this soft, colored-pencil-style animation really hit differently. There’s something so warm and handmade about it—you can see the texture.
Also, there’s no voiceover at all. Just orchestral background music. And that makes the gentle friendship between the boy and the snowman feel even more tender and magical. It’s a little long, but if you’ve got the time… I really recommend it. ❄️
