Fire Horse at Riso Pop in Amsterdam
My Fire Horse made it to Riso Pop’s exhibition in Amsterdam—after a last-minute size change and a lesson in careful email reading.
Last weekend, the Fire Horse exhibition took place at Riso Pop in Amsterdam. I had been busy working on my own Fire Horse illustration last month because I wanted to participate in the open call.
Around mid-January, I received a message from Aafke, the owner, inviting me to participate in the Fire Horse exhibition. I replied confidently, “I’m already preparing something!” and submitted my work.
But… it turns out she had actually invited me to participate in the “Friends Expo” happening alongside the main exhibition! I had carefully prepared my illustration in A4 size—only to realize I needed to redo it in A3. So I quickly redrew and resubmitted it. Lesson learned: read emails carefully!

Then, I spotted my Fire Horse briefly featured on Riso Pop’s Instagram, and I just had to share it.
Surrounded by so many colorful Fire Horses created by other artists, my horse looked so happy to be there.
