Flamingo
A fan video I made in art school for Kero Kero Bonito’s "Flamingo"—a small thank-you to the music that sparks my creativity.

This is the piece I'm most emotionally attached to. I love Kero Kero Bonito—their music feels like me. Whenever I listen to it, I feel more creative.
Back in art school, I made a fan video for her song "Flamingo" as my final assignment for my motion graphics class. It just made sense; it felt like the best way I could say thank you to them.
I listened to the lyrics over and over while finishing this hand-drawn storyboard.
I imagined flamingos acting like artists and proudly basking in the spotlight.
For the shot composition, I was inspired by the music video for "Ryokiteki na Kiss o Watashi ni Shite" by the Japanese band Gesu no Kiwami Otome (ゲスの極み乙女), which was one of my favorites at the time.
After I finished the video, I uploaded it to YouTube and shared it with the world! After I emailed Kero Kero Bonito to tell them about it—and they even tweeted it about it!

And then Sokabe, the lead vocalist of Sunny Day Service, tweeted about my video too—and it went a tiny bit viral!
