Getting Solid (No More Fuzzy Ink!)
Finishing up the message card for my friend—and testing solid pens this time. Risograph fuzz + fuzzy pen = not cute. Lesson learned!
Today I’ve been working on finishing the message card I’m designing for my friend—it’s really getting to the final stages now! As usual, I plan to print it with risograph.
One of the things I learned during yesterday’s big risograph study session is this:
I shouldn’t use fuzzy or textured brushes when making the final art.
When I draw digitally in Procreate, I usually use an inky, slightly fuzzy brush because I like the texture. But risograph already adds a bit of blur on its own,
so when the art also has fuzzy lines, the print ends up double-blurred… and last weekend’s test print really showed me how messy that can look.

So this time, I used a solid pen brush for the artwork!
Meanwhile, I’ve also started redrawing the Osusowake Club illustration so it can hold up better when printed with risograph.
Solid shapes and stronger lines—here we go!
