Homemade Mac & Cheese for Thanksgiving

We brought baked mac & cheese and Japanese chocolate to a family gathering—and our layered, cheesy dish was a total crowd-pleaser!

Perfectly baked to a golden brown—no complaints here!

Yesterday, we were invited to a family gathering and brought along two things: a baked mac & cheese dish and some chocolate from the Japanese brand ROYCE’!

I was in charge of cooking the macaroni—super al dente, of course!

Our mac & cheese was a huge hit! The recipe originally came from a friend of a friend of my husband’s, and it’s seriously a craft masterpiece. You layer macaroni with five kinds of cheese, plus basil and oregano, over and over again. Then, pour a rich custard made of eggs, milk, and heavy cream all over it—and bake it in the oven for about an hour!

The result? Absolute perfection. The cheese melts beautifully, and the Italian herbs bring out a flavor that’s almost like the cheese on top of a pizza—so, so good!

There were also two kinds of turkey, tons of side dishes, and no fewer than five pies and cakes—it was an absolutely decadent feast!
