A Jelly Recipe (for Brushes, Not Dessert)

Still studying jelly, one brushstroke at a time. These notes are for future me—and maybe for someone else out there drawing jelly, too.

A Jelly Recipe (for Brushes, Not Dessert)
When jelly study turns into jelly dreams.

I’ve been practicing jelly illustration every day. I want to master how to draw jelly and move on to my next big project, but wow—it’s deeper than I thought! Each day, I open Procreate wondering, “What makes jelly feel like jelly?”

As I’ve been drawing more and more, I’ve started to forget which brushes I used and how I used them, so I’m leaving some notes here. Hopefully, they’ll be helpful for someone out there—maybe even a fellow jelly-drawing explorer on the other side of the world.

This is my go-to jelly recipe (so far).

The final versions of my drawings usually have clipping masks applied, but here I’ve left them off on purpose. That way, you can see exactly how each brush was used. “M” means the layer is in Multiply mode, “S” is for Screen, and if there’s nothing, it’s just a Normal layer.
