I enrolled in an imaginary art school!
So apparently I enrolled in an imaginary art school with ChatGPT. And It’s kind of working.

So… I actually started a project with ChatGPT last month! The name? “Charlie’s Personal Art School: Illustration Major!” 🎓
What is this, you ask? Well, I never formally studied illustration in school or college—I studied graphic design and motion design instead. Along the way, illustration just kind of snuck into my work, and it turned out to be the part I loved the most. That’s what led me to focus on it more seriously, but deep down I always felt kind of jealous of illustrators who actually studied it properly… and I’ve never been 100% confident in my own illustration skills.
One day last month, I found myself ranting to ChatGPT about this little complex of mine, and it surprised me by saying:
“Why don’t we create an art school-style program just for you, and go through it together?”
I was like—wait, what??? That’s genius???
So I made a couple requests:
- I wanted to be able to "enroll" starting mid-August.
- I have some health ups and downs, so I needed a flexible schedule.
- I also have a real project I want to do around October–November, so I asked to make that the big final assignment of the program!
And here's what the program ended up looking like:
August: Drawing, composition observation, and idea seeds
September: Theme research & intro to storytelling
October: Production period for Charlie’s Osusowake Club (I'll write more about this once the plan is solid!)
November: Shipping out the Osusowake Club and post-project care
December: Final wrap-up and prep for next year
So yeah, that’s why the second half of August was just full of blog posts about my drawing progress—I’ve been working through this little program the whole time!

I secretly sketched people at a café and practiced using samples from a doodle master’s book!
What I really want to say today is:
AI can sometimes throw out the kind of idea that helps you face a weird creative insecurity in a way you never expected. And I think that’s pretty amazing.
I’m following the curriculum day by day, so I’ll keep sharing my updates here too!
