My First Art Book Love: Malika Favre

Her bold style is nothing like mine—but this book is packed with ideas I secretly (okay, not so secretly) want to steal.

My First Art Book Love: Malika Favre
The coolness is already leaking out—from this bold, simple cover alone.

This is one of my all-time favorite art books—by the amazing Malika Favre.
It also happens to be the very first art book I ever bought in my life!

Her style—cool, bold, and oh-so-slick—is totally different from my own soft, playful illustrations. But even so, there’s so much I want to learn from her. Like the elegance in her lines when she draws women, the confident way she handles poses, and the way she chooses and combines colors. Seriously, every page is a masterclass.

And don’t even get me started on her ideas. They always blow me away.
She tells stories through visual contrast—like using shadows to show another side of a character, or showing what’s happening through the reflection in a pair of sunglasses. Genius? Yes. Intimidating? Also yes.

This book is filled with page after page of inspiring moments that make me want to copy everything. (With love!!)

Even President Trump gets the sleek-and-chic treatment in her hands.
