More Pigeons and Some Color Magic

I continued reading the pigeon zine today and found myself moved by the stories—plus totally charmed by the riso color chart on the last page!

More Pigeons and Some Color Magic
For example, when you mix fluorescent pink with a bluish green like teal, it turns into this strange, hard‑to‑describe purple!

Today, I continued reading the pigeon zine I mentioned the other day. Some of the stories were about people who joined pigeon rescue efforts, or others who adopted pigeons and took care of them at home—so heartwarming!

And then, on the very last page, I found an ink color chart that made my heart skip a beat. I just love when risograph studios include these kinds of color reference pages, whether as part of a zine or as a bonus insert.

Of course, I know in theory that blue and yellow make green—but with riso inks, you never quite know exactly what kind of green you'll get until you print it. The way colors blend depends on how densely you layer them, and even slight differences in the ink base can lead to totally different outcomes. That mystery and unpredictability is part of what makes risograph printing so magical!

So today, I pulled out all the color samples I’ve collected at home and laid them out just to admire them for a bit.
