Osusowake Club #3: Cat & Wrapping Paper
Started the third Osusowake Club illustration—this time featuring a cat I’ve been drawing for 20 years! No more just my face!
Today I finally started working on the third illustration for Osusowake Club! I actually came up with the idea at the beginning of this month, so today I brought the original pencil sketch into Procreate and started redrawing it digitally.
This one features a cat character holding a bunch of presents. And not just any cat—this is a character I’ve been drawing for about 20 years, since I was a student!
I figured it was time to let this cat make a little comeback. Because it gets kind of boring if it’s just my face in every illustration, right?
(And it starts to feel a little narcissistic too, haha.)
This time, I wanted to try something new:
Instead of just filling the gift wrap with flat colors, I’m going to scan textures from pens and crayons I have at home, and import them into Procreate to use as wrapping paper patterns. Trying something different is always fun, isn’t it?
Tomorrow I’ll start adding color—can’t wait to see how it turns out!
