Ouch and Brrr! Drawing Practice

Today’s drawing drills: people in pain and people freezing. Needles still terrify me, and Chicago winter is already creeping in!

Ouch and Brrr! Drawing Practice
It’s not just the body poses—I’m also learning so much about drawing expressions from this doodle master book!

Today’s drawing practice had me giggling again. The themes were “people in pain” and “people freezing.”
Since I’ve had to get poked with blood tests and shots a lot lately, I couldn’t help but project myself onto the characters. Unlike the fearless sketchbook examples, I’m the type who turns my head away when the needle goes in. The moment it pricks? I let out a little “hyah!” or “ugh,” then take a deep breath and pray the nurse pulls it out one second sooner. Just thinking about it makes me shiver!

And the freezing ones? That’s basically me in a few months. Chicago’s already cooling down these past few days—like, “is fall here already?” I’m bracing myself… will this winter be extra brutal?
