Pokémon Is Back in My Life
From grandpa-sponsored Pokémon Green to surprise Google Poké Ball hunting—Pokémon is back in my life and I’m slightly obsessed (again).

I’m from the original Pokémon generation—the kind of kid who begged her grandpa for Pokémon Green even when it wasn’t a special occasion, and then played it into the ground.
My Pokémon phase lasted a good while, but eventually it faded, and I stopped playing altogether.
But recently… my husband has gotten super into the Pokémon card game again—and his hype has totally rubbed off on me! So now, for the first time ever, I’ve been playing the Pokémon card game too.
I keep surprising myself by how many old characters I still remember (hello again, my pixelated childhood friends), and I’m constantly wowed by the variety of all the new Pokémon—I swear they’ve invented like 500 more while I wasn’t looking.
Lapras has the same name in Japanese and English, so I searched it and caught it right away!
And just as Pokémon fever reached boiling point in our household, I stumbled across a super fun Pokémon Easter egg from Google that I have to share:
If you search for a Pokémon on Google, a little Poké Ball shows up in the bottom right corner of the screen!
And when you tap it—bam! You catch a Pokémon!! It’s ridiculously cute.
151 to go… this is gonna take a while.
I still have no idea what most of their English names are, so it’s been a struggle...
But mark my words: I’m gonna catch them all!!!
