Yesterday I felt like I couldn’t choose any of them—but after trying to draw each idea from different angles, I think I’m starting to see which ones work better!
Today I picked three ideas from the sketches I started yesterday, and worked on expanding them—adding movement or thinking about how to turn them into 4-panel comics.
In the end, I chose these three:
A girl dancing with a snowman
A Christmas tree getting dressed up in front of a mirror
A character carrying a big pile of presents stacked up super high
It’s a pretty common idea, but I imagined a girl who was happily humming while making a snowman on a snowy day—and then the snowman suddenly starts dancing too!I thought, “Just stacking presents isn’t interesting enough!”—but then I found out that it’s actually hard to show movement with so many presents piled up!The order is a bit messy, but the scenes go like this: an elf and a Christmas tree bring out last year’s decorations from the storage, then they look through them together, then the tree gets mad because it can’t find the one it wants, and in the end, the tree finds its favorite and looks very happy—while the elf helps decorate the back too.
The one I had the most fun drawing was the Christmas tree getting dressed up. Tomorrow I’ll try out some different compositions and develop the idea more.
