Starting the Spring Sharing Club

Starting preparations for my Spring Osusowake Club—this time for Taipei Art Book Fair, inspired by cherry blossoms and their bittersweet beauty.

Starting the Spring Sharing Club
My goal is to create something that conveys a feeling rather than just a landscape.

Today, I finally began preparing for my Spring Osusowake Club project!
This time, instead of mailing it out to someone, I’m planning to distribute it at the Taipei Art Book Fair—almost like a “nice to meet you” business card.

When I think of spring, the pure Japanese in me can only choose one thing: cherry blossoms. That pale pink explosion of flowers blooming all at once feels so special. I wrote about this on the blog last year too, but in Japan, spring marks graduation and the start of a new school year. So whenever I see those soft pink blossoms in late March or April, I’m reminded of all the meetings and farewells I’ve passed through in my life. It gives me a bittersweet feeling.

It’s as if the cherry blossoms gently push you forward. And by the time the petals fall, everyone has already stepped into a new place, becoming a slightly new version of themselves.

Today, I brainstormed ideas around cherry blossoms. I considered expressing that bittersweet emotional layer—but I also thought it might be nice to capture the lightness of the season, the way petals drift softly in the wind. As the words came to me, I made some quick image sketches too.

That’s all for today! Tomorrow, I’ll revisit today’s brainstorm and sketches and try to develop the ideas further.
