Cutting Paper the Right Way

Upgraded my paper-cutting setup with a Carl cutter—smooth cuts, neon details, and way more efficient production.

Cutting Paper the Right Way
This year, I’m slowly upgrading my studio tools to make production smoother and more efficient.

Continuing yesterday’s paper talk!

The paper sold by French Paper comes in a 19 x 12.5 inch size—which doesn’t fit into my risograph machine at all. Until now, I’ve been going to Spudnik Press to use their guillotine cutter whenever I needed to trim it down.

But recently, I remembered seeing this paper cutter called Carl in a risograph tutorial video. I found one and asked my husband if we could get it.

And wow—it’s so convenient! The cuts are smooth, and for some reason, the fluorescent yellow plastic detail is oddly thrilling. It can cut multiple sheets at once and still stay precise, which makes the whole production process so much easier.
