Why I’ve Been Able to Post a Blog for 100 Days in a Row

I’ve posted 100 blogs in 100 days! The reason? Morning Pages. I write out all my messy thoughts every morning—and blog ideas come out, too.

Why I’ve Been Able to Post a Blog for 100 Days in a Row
Here’s a little peek—it’s not meant for anyone to see, so the scribbles are extra messy!

Yesterday was my 100th blog post! I gave myself a little high five, and today I’m writing post #101.

Have you been wondering why I’ve been able to post a blog every single day?

It’s because I do Morning Pages every morning.

What’s that?

It’s a method from a book called The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. It’s one of the first tools introduced in the book to help bring back creativity. You wake up, sit at your desk, open a notebook, and write 3 pages of whatever comes into your head. Even if it’s a mess! (Honestly, I scribble like a maniac.)

I do it for about 30 minutes every day. After I’m done, my head feels really clear, and I’m ready to enjoy the day with energy.

That’s also the time I come up with ideas for the blog. I write about what’s been going on lately or what I’ve been thinking about. As I keep writing—“Hmm, what about this? No, not that. Oh! This might be good!”—the idea starts to come together. Sometimes, by the end, not just the topic, but a whole rough blog post is already written!

So after I finish Morning Pages, I eat breakfast, get ready, and later in the day I just clean up what I wrote and post it on Ghost.io. Sometimes the idea for the cover illustration also comes out during Morning Pages, so I usually don’t have trouble thinking, “What should I write today…?”

So yes, the reason I’ve been able to post a blog every day for 100 days is simple: Morning Pages! I write my thoughts, blog ideas come out, and I already have a draft when I’m done.

Of course—this blog post was also born in today’s Morning Pages!
