Quiet Week, Busy Brain
A quiet blog week filled with riso repairs, zine shopping, and designing thank-you cards for my upcoming baby shower.
I haven’t written much on the blog this week, but I’ve actually been doing a lot of different things behind the scenes.
Last weekend, my husband and I completely took apart that fluorescent pink ink drum to figure out what was wrong with it. Thanks to my husband’s endless curiosity, we discovered that the drum’s pump section was broken!
We also stopped by Quimby's Bookstore to check how our work was selling, and of course I ended up buying some riso zines while we were there.
And lately, I’ve been working on thank-you cards for the guests coming to my baby shower next month.
I knew nothing about baby shower culture, so I had to do some research first. I originally thought it was an event mainly for celebrating the baby, but apparently it’s really more about celebrating the soon-to-be mom!
So technically, a thank-you card from me makes sense… but being all “ME! THANK YOU FROM ME!” feels a little embarrassing somehow.

Since it’s the Year of the Horse, I was also really tempted by the idea of a girl dramatically arriving on horseback!
I looked on Pinterest for ideas, but things like “birds carrying babies” or “tiny baby clothes fluttering in the wind” felt a little too classic and predictable for me. I tried sketching all sorts of baby-related illustrations, but the one that felt the most right was… a dancing little girl!
Lately I’ve been feeling the baby move around even more, and during one of my checkups, the doctor even joked, “Is she having a dance party in there?”
Feeling all those little movements has become one of the happiest moments of my day.
So yes—I think I’m going with the dancing girl illustration!
